Enhancing Mobility for Seniors and Disabilities: Federal Grant 5310

Federal Transit Grant 5310 is a federal funding program administered by the Regional Transit Authority (RTA), that provides funding to support the transportation needs of individuals with disabilities and older adults. The program is designed to enhance mobility options and improve transportation services for these populations, helping them maintain their independence and participate fully in their communities. People’s Express provides 5310 Services in the Eastern Portion of Washtenaw County. Our program brings residents adjacent to the Ann Arbor Urbanized Area from the rural areas to the urban areas to seek equal opportunities.

“We are thrilled to receive this funding, which brings us one step closer to bridging the transportation gap for rural communities of Washtenaw County. With these resources, we can enhance accessibility for seniors and individuals with disabilities, ensuring their access to vital resources in urban areas,” said Eveliina Taylor, Mobility Manager for the People’s Express in Washtenaw Township. “This award is a testament to our commitment to improving mobility and empowering older adults and people with disabilities in our region. We thank the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan for their support and look forward to the positive impact the continuation of our projects will have on our community.”
