Services

The People’s Express provides low-cost transportation services to the US-23 corridor, and greater Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti area. We have handicapped accessible vans (aides ride free) and buses available for Medical, Educational, Work and Personal rides. Where do you think you’re going? Chances are People’s Express can get you there!

Current Programs

Commuter Route From Brighton to Ann Arbor

People’s Express has a commuter route that runs from the Lee Road & Fieldcrest Park & Ride into Ann Arbor to the Med Inn at the U of M Hospital. The cost is $3.00 each way and the times are as follows:

Buses leave promptly at their assigned times, please do not be late getting to the bus.

City of South Lyon

The City of South Lyon subsidizes the cost of transportation services for residents of the City of South Lyon through People’s Express. Residents of the city may travel anywhere within the city for $2.00 each way, with seniors and persons with disabilities paying half of that fare ($1 each way). Travel can also be arranged to travel to Providence Park Hospital in Novi, Walmart in New Hudson, or Meijer in Wixom for $4.00 each way, with seniors and persons with disabilities paying half of that fare ($2 each way). Trips that are traveling to the Ann Arbor urban area must be specially arranged.

City of Saline

The City of Saline subsidizes the cost of transportation services for all residents of the City of Saline through People’s Express. Residents of Saline may travel anywhere in the city for $4.00 each way, with seniors and persons with disabilities paying half of that fare ($2 each way), including trips to Walmart or the Saline High School. Trips leaving the City of Saline, such as trips going to Ann Arbor or Ypsilanti, must be specially arranged.

Charter Township of Lyon

Lyon Township subsidizes the cost of transportation services for its residents through People’s Express. Transportation anywhere within Lyon Township costs $4.00 each way, with seniors and persons with disabilities paying half of that fare ($2 each way). Rides going out to Providence Park Hospital are $8.00 each way, with seniors and persons with disabilities paying half of that fare ($4 each way).

City of Wixom

The City of Wixom subsidizes the cost of transportation services for its senior residents through People’s Express. Riders must be a member of the Wixom Senior Center, and costs vary depending on the riders’ destination. Please call to get a price. Half price fares are given to seniors and persons with disabilities.

Reservations

Reservations must be made at least 3 business days in advance (Saline, 2 business days). Call 877-214-6073 between 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday – Friday to schedule your ride. A call-back will be given 1 business day prior to your scheduled ride. Please be on time. Drivers will wait five minutes. They may arrive up to 15 minutes before or after scheduled pick-up times.

 

Title VI

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance. Specifically, Title VI provides that “no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” (46 U.S.C. Section 2000d)
